My most favorite bird in Africa that I saw was the Lilac-Breasted Roller. Their turquoise and dark royal blue feathers shimmered in the light and their lilac breast just glowed. We took many photos of this bird. Once home, I just HAD to paint it. I started with the bird in watercolor, and after many layers of glazes, I felt it was time to start on the background. So today, I started on the background - this is just one layer.
