Pastel Painting on Suede Matboard

"Courtyard Niche" 10 x 8 pastel
Some time ago, a framer was selling a box full of suede matboard cutouts for $1.00 each.  I bought about 15 of them.  They were all various colors and all 8 x 10.

Today I pulled out a mauve colored one and painted this.  Nice thing to do on a cold winter's day with snow and ice all around.

Carolyn, this work sooo soft and warm! :-))) Really like suede :-)))

It reminds me of the old painter-masters - like a wall somewhere in Italy:) I have these associations:)
Very beautiful - this cactus with yellow and warm-pink on the pot! Wow! :-) So love it!

I relly like this painting! So warm feeling, and I wish I were there when I look at it. Suede matboard is great to work on, I have only done animals on it, but this looks great!!! so 3-D, and not much if any dust when you work!
Just great stuff.

Thanks Liz, Ti-igra and Ida. Yes, it was an interesting concept to paint sharp, prickly cactus on a soft, fuzzy surface!!!!!
