So I ask myself, "When am I done with this painting?"

...When it doesn't bug me in some way ...
This painting is called "Aspen Grove".
This painting wasn't bad last time I posted, but it just didn't "feel" right to me.  I don't know why, it is just something I felt.  I did more layers of pastel, so that now the watercolor underpainting is mostly obliterated.  Oh, well, Richard McKinley said sometimes the painting just needs more pastel to make it work.  ....But I still aspire to be able to do very little pastel and let the watercolor show through ...

... maybe I'm close to being done now...it doesn't look too bad here ...

Wow! Carolyn! I love this pastel! t is so realistic! The Aspen tree on the left - it is as true:) WOW!!! When I look at it long time, seems that it is real and I am there at this grove! Soft shimmer of fall foliage creates the effect of warm sunshine day!!!
Thanks for so wonderful mood, Carolyn!
I wish you have an interesting color autumn days! Hurray! :-)

wow, it just does look better---I liked the first version, I could see where it was going, and like the glowing sun-lit grasses in the foreground---but this finnished piece does look more like an Aspen grove compeleted painting. Maybe its the more color and a bit more easier to see?? anyhow, its a nice one. did you read the neat comment Mike Beeman gave you on his thread you commented on in WC! Very cool indeed!

Thanks Ti and Ida! Gee, I'll have to revisit the Mike Beeman comment. I didn't go back after commenting. Ti-Igra, we are talking about Wet Canvas. It is an on-line artist community for sharing and learning. People around the world are members. Maybe you would like to join and get involved! It is fun. I only visit the Pastel Forum because there just isn't enough time for me to visit them all. Go to wetcanvas.com. You can still view if you are not a member, but if you join (for free) you can comment and post your artwork.

I have just completed work on one project, and I have now the time to read the Conditions of the site (oops, there are so many text! It was necessary to penetrate into the details at registration)!
I already registered under the same nickname. So you will see me there a little later:) I am so excited! Wonderful! Thank you, Carolyn, you're so sweet!

I think you're right. You know Carolyn, you've taken a ton of classes and progressed as an artist so that you are the one who could be teaching, and that means your voice is one you should be listening to. Grasshoppa.
