This location was supposed to be our afternoon site, so we just stayed. Richard did a demo of rocks for us. It was very inspiring, like all his demos! Photo is at the end of this page.
I decided to do another small, intimate scene with high contrast - which is easier for me at this point - rather than the big expansive scene.
Some little plants around the rocks are starting to turn red and orange. Here is my underpainting.
While adding pastel, the sun went over the ridge and gusty wind came up. Being the wimp that I am, I did not work long on this, and I think I'd like to do a "do-over" at home of this scene.
Here is Richard's demo - awesome as usual.

Yes, Carolyn, you choose interesting scenes! Not only distant landscapes up to the horizon, but such "intimate" scene (how you colled them :-)
Your lattest works have so wonderfull effects of textures!
And I want to tell: you have a wonderful teacher and you have a wonderful sense of color! :-)))
LOVE the the one on the bottom!
Trevor, I don't want to take credit for the one on the bottom! That one is Richard's!!!!!! Don't I wish I had done that one.....
